Cold sores can be painful and embarrassing, but these tips can help you get rid of them fast!
Today’s post covers a subject that I’ve received a lot of questions about over the years: cold sores. The cause and treatment of cold sores is a topic that many people don’t understand completely. In fact, when we started planning to write this blog post, no one on the OGT Team could seem to agree on what a cold sore actually was or what caused it! That just goes to show that there is a lot of confusion and misinformation out there about cold sores, so I thought it would be a good idea to begin by going over some basic facts. :-)
What Is A Cold Sore?
A cold sore is a red blister on the outside of the mouth, usually located along the edge of the lips. The blister may break, ooze, or form a c
An abscess is a painful collection of pus, usually caused by a bacterial infection. Abscesses can develop anywhere in the body. This article focuses on two types of abscess:
skin abscesses – which develop under the skin
internal abscesses – which develop inside the body, in an organ or in the spaces between organs
Symptoms of an abscess
A skin abscess often appears as a swollen, pus-filled lump under the surface of the skin. You may also have other symptoms of an infection, such as a high temperature (fever) and chills.
It's more difficult to identify an abscess inside the body, but signs include:
pain in the affected area
a high temperature
generally feeling unwell
When to see your GP
See your GP if you think you may have an abscess. They can examine a skin abscess or refer
Thrush is caused by an overgrowth of yeast known as Candida albicans.
Vaginal creams and pessaries help reduce candida overgrowth and ease thrush symptoms.
Thrush outbreaks, while uncomfortable, do not cause any long-term health issues.
Consult your doctor if you have recurrent thrush.
Vaginal thrush is a common infection caused by an overgrowth of Candida albicans yeast. This yeast lives naturally in the bowel and in small numbers in the vagina. It is mostly harmless, but symptoms can develop if yeast numbers increase.
About 75 per cent of women will have vaginal thrush in their lifetime. Other names for this infection are candidiasis or monilia.
Symptoms can include vaginal itching or burning, a white discharge and stinging or burning while urinating. Vaginal creams o
A healthy skin care routine and the best anti-aging wrinkle creams with SPF can help protect us from the sun and provide younger-looking skin, but it can’t protect us from all the stresses that come along with being an adult. Doesn’t it seem like the older we get, the more things there are to stress us out?
Experiencing stress is natural, and at the right times it can be a good thing. After all, it’s our body’s fight-or-flight response to an eminent threat.
When stressed, your body releases extra adrenaline, endorphins, enzymes and proteins to prepare you to survive whatever stressful situation you’re in. Many suggest that this is how people have exhibited seemingly superhuman strength when faced with a life-or-death situation.
The Negative Effects of Stress

Myth #1: All sensitive skin is similar
The truth is: there’s no one type of sensitive skin. Sensitive skin is a self-diagnosis and could mean a multitude of skin issues. It could mean you’re prone to redness or inflammation, peeling or itching, that you feel stinging or burning with certain ingredients and formulas, or that you are susceptible to breakouts when you change up your beauty routine. It reacts rather than adapts to the environment.
While there’s no one type of sensitive skin, a clean slate with a gentle, soothing, effective skin routine can do wonders for all skin types. The key is to find products that cleanse without damage and nourish without irritation.
Myth #2: Sensitive skin is uncommon
The truth is: Over 50% of women say they have sensitive skin. Because of the inter

Step 1: Makeup Remover
Removing makeup is critical since it preps skin for a deep cleanse. A makeup removing wet cloth or cleansing oil will not only remove makeup but it will also clear away the day’s dirt and pollution that settled into pores.

A makeup-free face provides a fresh palette to thoroughly cleanse skin. Work cleanser into a foaming lather by rubbing vigorously with water and gently massaging in upward, circular motions for 1-2 minutes. Additionally, use a exfoliating scrub after the cleanser once a week for thorough exfoliation.
Step 3: Hydrating Toner
Apply directly after cleansing the f

1. KNOW WHAT CAUSES DANDRUFF
Know thy enemy before you attack. Dandruff is caused by a whole array of factors, so it’s important to know where yours is coming from before treating it. The build-up of Malassezia, a yeast-like fungus that thrives on oily scalp areas, is one of the most common causes of dandruff.
When the scalp is unhealthy, it’s natural defences are compromised, and irritants produced by Malassezia penetrate the scalp barr

It’s no fun to take your shoes off after a long day and get no relief because your toe—often your big toe—keeps hurting. You sit down to get a closer look. The skin bordering your nail bed is red, irritated and swollen. It’s painful and tender to the touch. You have an ingrown toenail, and if you’re like most people, the next 3-4 days will be filled with an arsenal of nail clippers, antibiotics, and Band-Aids.
Alex Turnipseed, a physician’s assistant at Cedars-Sinai Urgent Care, sees a few patients complaining of ingrown toenails per month. For some, the painful problem repeats itself frequently. He usually fixes the nail by using special tools to cut the ingrown part away.
“The good news is they very rarely lead to any serious infections or complications,” he says.
Here are some tips t
You thought you picked the perfect foundation colour. So why is it turning darker—or worse still, orange—on your skin?
The search for the perfect foundation can take months and hundreds of dollars. That formula that looked great in the store might not stand up to summer heat. Never mind the endless drama of trying to find the right colour—particularly as your skin changes hue throughout the year.
So if an otherwise perfect foundation turns orange on your skin as the day goes on, you might be tempted to throw the bottle out the window and give up entirely. There are a couple of reasons your makeup might turn orange, and understanding each can help you plan what to do next.
The Foundation Was the Wrong Colour to Begin With

The beauty industry had me duped for a long time, making me think I needed strong chemicals to heal acne. Those chemicals actually did more harm than good.
Ever since, I’m leery when it comes to “medicated” anything, even the simple tube of medicated lip balm to heal chapped lips.
By the way, did you know that technically, Chapstick is a brand of lip balm? Just like Kleenex is a type of facial tissue. I find this funny, simple because I grew up calling all the sticks “chapstick,” regardless of their actual brand. (And I called all the tissues “kleenex” too!)
Back to medicated lip balm – my dad has always kept a tube in his pocket for as long as I can remember. He still does in fact.
I carried on this tradition myself, seeing how handy it was to be able to reach into my pocket and pull
If you're eager to grow a glorious beard, it's hard to accept that it simply takes time. In reality, your genetic profile is the most important (and unchangeable) factor in how fast your beard will grow. There are things you can do to potentially speed up the process a bit, though. Take care of your beard as it grows, follow a beard-healthy lifestyle, and talk to your doctor if your beard needs additional help. And, above all, be patient!
1 Be patient and let your facial hair grow. Your genetic profile is the primary factor in how quickly (and how fully) your beard grows, and there’s not much you can do about that. While you can take measures to support the process, you should also accept that your beard will grow in its own way and at its own pace.
Some people say that regularly
Common sense tells us that a leafy green salad is probably better fuel for your body than a plate of greasy French fries. But the foods you eat also have a huge impact on your skin’s health and complexion. Get the most out of your food with the easy diet tips below to maintain vibrant, youthful-looking skin.
Good Eats for Your Skin:
Citrus, Fruits, and Peppers
These foods are loaded with vitamin C, an antioxidant that helps protect skin against surface free radicals. Surface free radicals, generated from UV rays and environmental pollutants, eventually cause wrinkles and a loss of skin firmness.
Salmon, Eggs, and Dairy
These foods are good sources of vitamin D, a nutrient that helps the body absorb calcium for strong bones. And bone loss can contribute to sagging skin. Salmon is also hig
The most effective home remedies for preventing breast sagging and regaining their firmness include regular pectoral exercises, olive oilmassaging, ice massaging, cucumber and egg mask, vegetable oils, and various essential oils.
Regaining the firmness of saggy breasts is very important for breastfeeding mothers, but it is also important to take precautions while doing any exercises or changing your diet during pregnancy. Before we analyze some of the solutions for breast sagging, it is important to understand the causes, so you can specifically direct your preventive techniques or treatments.
Causes of Breast Sagging
Let us look at the main causes of breast sagging.
Aging: Age is an important factor in the reduction of firmness in the breasts. Size is not important, but it is im
I’ve been in a war against blackheads since I first discovered Bioré pore strips back in high school. Seeing that black gunk is just so satisfying! According to facialist Cecilia Wong from Cecilia Wong Skincare in New York City, those tiny dots are a sign you need to treat your skin ASAP. “A blackhead is a clump of oil and dirt mixed together in a pore,” she tells SELF. “If you don’t take care of your pores, eventually the dirt and oil will accumulate. If someone has a lot of blackheads (or open comedones), you can feel it—the skin is rough, scratchy, and bumpy."
More bad news: Dirty pores can also mean reduced skin elasticity in the future. “A pore is like a rubber band—the more you stretch it out, the less elasticity it has,” Wong says. “Once your pores are stretched out to a certain de
Perfectly shaped eyebrows highlight one's face and personality. We all are aware of how bold eyebrows have become a rage, and yet not too long back, pencil-thin eyebrows dominated the style industry. Now thicker eyebrows are back in trend. In fact, you can see women sporting them on the silver screens and fashion runways. Eyebrows are one of the most noticeable parts of one's face, the thicker they are, more beautiful you look. But not all of us can lay a natural claim to thick eyebrows. Some of us have sparse and scanty eyebrows, and we are always scouting for remedies to make them thicker. Though there isn’t a magic tip to bring back your eyebrow hair overnight, but there are certain things that can enhance the process. And for this, nothing can work better than natural remedies.

Every female has a natural vaginal scent that can change throughout her menstrual cycle. A strong odor however, can be a sign of an infection, particularly if she is sexually active. Certain sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) such as trichomoniasis can cause a different odor. A woman’s vagina is naturally filled with bacteria but when there is an overgrowth, the condition is called bacterial vaginosis and causes a “fishy” odor.
The female gender is one who cares a lot about his physical condition and is very careful about themselves. However, women not only face aesthetic and beauty problems, but also health problems. (bad smell)
-While some are concerned about their hair, body or face, others have major problems. One of those problems is the vaginal odor caused by infections.
We know, we know – facial cleansing is pretty easy, right? Splash on some water, work in some product and you're basically good to go. Except it's not as straightforward as that with the range of cleansers on hand, and if you're not scrubbing up properly, the signs will start to show.
1. Face wipes
It might be time to break up with the face wipes; yes we know they're the easy option, but at what price to your skin? The majority are loaded with chemicals which, sure, will dissolve your makeup, but surfactants and emulsifiers tend to aggravate. Not to mention the scrubbing involved on a stubborn scrap of mascara, all that pulling is a massive no-no around your delicate eyes.
2. Harsh cleansers on oily skin:
Sure, it seems only logical to go hardcore on oily skin, and opt for grainy,
